What are feminized cannabis seeds?
Feminized cannabis seeds are seeds that come from a female plant that is fertilized with the pollen of another, manipulated female plant.
Here's how it works:
A female plant, with certain characteristics desired by the grower, is injected or sprayed with a liquid.
The plant is then placed lightly under 12 hours. After 25 to 30 days, this plant will form male flowers (pollen bags).
Now 1 (or more) other female plant is placed at the manipulated plant. This is now fertilized by pollen that contains only female chromosomes.
As a result, the seed that is produced is also completely female.
Can there be male weed seeds in between?
This is impossible! It is possible that there is a hermaphrodite between them.
This is a plant that has the characteristics of both a male and a female hemp plant.
These hermaphrodites are well distinguishable from the female plants, and should be removed to prevent fertilization.
Do hermaphrodites also occur in cuttings?
Hell yes! Hermaphrodites are actually created by the survival mechanism that is present in all cannabis seeds.
Because of this they occur in regular cannabis seeds, feminized cannabis seeds and in cuttings.
In extreme circumstances, hemp plants can produce fruits of the opposite sex in order to fertilize themselves.
Because seedlings have stronger genes as cuttings, the chances of this mechanism coming into effect are greater.
By making sure the conditions are right, you reduce the chances of hermaphrodites!
